Starting the hike into the Latir Peaks Wilderness (where the fun is)
Our climb for the day ascends the left side of this formation, “The Legs”, for three pitches
Minesh sackin...er...racking up at the base of the route. As it turns out that sapling makes for a bomber hand hold
Yeah, we're psyched
And this view is just from the base of the route
Looking up the first pitch of the route from about halfway up. Minesh is belaying me from near the tree in the sun near the center of the photo
Courtney leading through the crux on P1.
Northern NM is pretty freakin' bad ass
P3 starts out by stepping right onto this arete for an immediate feeling of exposure. Then, head up the super featured face above.
Courtney setting up her belay at the top of P1
George busting through the crux on P1
A poorly stitched panorama but you get the idea...
George leading P2
Courtney following P2
Looking up “one of the best 5.8 pitches in New Mexico”. Yeah, it's pretty good.
WTF? No established route over there? Hot damn!
Summit posing Minesh
Group photo on the top
Minesh rapping while George leads P3
Courtney seconding P3 and loving it
Lest we forget Questa Dome just up the canyon a bit further...
On our drive back towards home we made a short stop at the Roadside Distraction area just outside of Questa
George eyeballing the roof above on “Roadside Distraction”, 5.10a
Car bumper belaying is pretty cushy
True to the name of the area, a number of cars slowed and checked out the action.
George up way high on “Roadside Distraction”. A 70m rope is required to lower with one rope. Otherwise, hit up the lower anchor.
George on the fun 5.8 “Roadside Construction”
Cushy convenience is the name of the game here
