I've been in Los Alamos for 30+ years and had never been out to the pumice mines area north of Rendija Canyon. (I wasn't a party person in high school). My first visit there was today with Dad, Jess, Zacky, Haileigh and Roger to watch them shoot guns.
Setting up the Osama Bin Laden target.
After some attempts to create a stand out of collected wood, this old tree root ball was picked as the ideal location to place the target
Zacky got to go first with the .22 rifle. It was his first time shooting a real gun although he had "shot hundreds in video games"
Grandpa Jerry did a great job to teach gun safety and Zack had a great time
Haileigh went next and wasn't as thrilled about it as Zacky
Jesse looked comfortable with the rifle. For the Navy he's had to train and certify with guns
Zacky and the .22 pistol
Haileigh took just one shot with the pistol and decided that was enough. Zack stayed loose and ready in the background.
Then we all got to see how it's really done
Now for the real fun, the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle
I thought for sure Zacky would take one shot and be done with it but he was stoked enough to go back for seconds
