After meeting with Craig Martin, a few of us started here at the top of the descent trail filling in an eroding trail and making a switchback instead.
Trail filled in and new switchback in place.
Installing steps against the wall on the descent trail. Seen here are Norbert (with bucket), Minesh and Josh.
Norbert came with a tray of his wife's famous “Amazon Bars” for all of us hungry trail workers.
Norbert offering a bar to Zack.
The bars made their way down to Chuck and Darien.
Members of the crew working on steps and soil stabilzation at the base of the climbing wall.
Bill, Josh and Minesh installing the awesome steps.
It may not look like much work is going on here but believe me, it is. Rose, Jacque, Chris and Allison working on installing “V”s for erosion control at the top of the wall.
Completed steps on the standard descent/ascent trail. You gotta walk these things to appreciate them. Awesome!
Chuck and Darien installing mini-dams in a heavily eroded section of the cliff base just below Cactus Climb and Black Wall.
The completed mini-dams and soil fill to help stabilize the area.
Completed steps at the bottom of the descent trail.
We used old, dead trees as “confrontational material” on a social trail to dissuade hikers from using the trail. Also, we re-routed the trail to the cliff base.
The completed “V”s for erosion control at the top of the cliff.
