While Tom and I would be camping at the top of the mountain, Bill, Dan and Nova joined us for the hike up to ride down that night.
Kicking steps on freshly groomed tracks on Pussycat
Dan motoring on ahead and schoolin' us all
We selected a site right next to the picnic deck just east of the top of Mother Chair. First order of business, flattened it out and let it settle.
The Mega Light all ready for a night's sleep. It took us about 1.5 hours to get it all settled the way we wanted.
Boiling up some water inside for hot chai tea and the ever-important hot water bottle for the sleeping bag. Tom and I both sported 20 degree down sleeping bags for the evening. We didn't get cold but the frequent breeze didn't allow for the best night of sleep
Tom getting settled in for the night. We dug down in the snow about a 16“ on each side to give us some more room inside.
Hitting the sack at 11:45pm. The overnight low was only 19 degrees. Very balmy.
Sunrise was gorgeous!
Sunrise on the 'mid. We got going around 7:20am and made the run down the parking lot by 8:40am. A night's sleep at 10,200' must be good for acclimatization.
View out the front door. This made the whole night worth it.
Our sleeping area after the 'mid was taken down.
Tom ready to enjoy the snowboarding with a full, heavy pack.
