Parking at the SF ski basin at around 10,300'.
Snowmobile tracks up and a nice solid layer underneath allowed us to make great time.
At the Sunset Switchback where we leave the ski area and get up on Raven's Ridge to go to Deception Peak and then over to Lake Peak.

Our first view of the nicely snow-flocked Lake Peak
Minesh hiking the final slope up to the summit of Deception Peak
The tricky ridge over to Lake Peak. A layer of ice underneath the snow made it a bit dicey at times.

Minesh opted to skip the ridge over to Lake Peak. This is looking back at him before he starts to descend as I head over to Lake Peak.
When the clouds would clear the view was awesome!
The crux of the ridge is this “sidewalk in the sky” section. Two feet wide at most and slick with nice exposure on both sides.

The view over to Penitente Peak. Not today.
Looking back towards Deception and the Nambe Chutes. Minesh is on the ridge near the trees. Look closely.

Switching gears--when I got home Allison said she'd hiked Pajarito and should have taken her snowboard. So her and I went up there and started our hike up at 4pm. We found conditions VERY satisfactory!
At the top and ready for our first turns of the season. We hit NO obstacles underneath the snow thanks to an ice layer below the powder. The season is ON!
