The blocks I tied my rope off on. It was hard to recall exactly how much tail after the knot I had but I think this was close enough.
The distance from the tied-off blocks to near the top of the route, Planet of the Apes.
OK, so this is a weird angle for a photo but it shows the full distance from the tied-off blocks to the top of the route.
Hunter, in blue, is climbing the new route, As You Wish, and Allison is up on top of Planet of the Apes. The rope hanging down is approximately as it was when I rappelled off the end.
The yellow lines show the distance between the end of the rope and the ground at the base of the route.
This is where I landed at the base of the route. I was between the bush and the wall to the left, below the rope bag.
The rope hanging above is about where it was when I came off. It was an overhanging area where I came off but then the rock juts out again near the base making me realize I was lucky to have not hit it and cartwheeled down or something.
We measured the distance to the ground from the end of the rope to be 22 feet. Some extra slack in the setup probably meant it was closer to an even 20 feet.
That's the distance
Thanks to Minesh, Laura and Drew Monkey I've got some nice reserved parking at home.
