Friday night we drove from Los Alamos to this fine camping spot in the Gila National Forest near Hillsboro, NM
NM's next best limestone sport crag?
Just a few feet from our camp site, we spotted the crew/family parking for our race the next day
For Saturday's activity we drove highway 152 from Hillsboro over Emory Pass towards Silver City and down to New Mexico's City of Rocks State Park for some bouldering. This is the view from Emory Pass looking towards Hillsboro
The entrance and visitor's center at City of Rocks State Park. We'd never been down there and I was very impressed with the park's infrastructure and beauty

Photo 3 of 3...done! Now how the #@&! do we get off?
This grouping of boulders is where we spent most of our day. There are loads more rocks around to explore too!
Bill working an unknown problem. Most of the problems are undocumented so you just look for a boulder and go for it. This was no harder than V6. More like V0.
Me working the unknown V0
Allison starts out on that same unknown V0
Work it, work it...
I suck at bouldering but give me a crack and I'm all for it! We think this was a V2 crack but it went real easy for me so I'm skeptical
Spiny lizard ready to tak our hands off!
Many of the boulders are tall enough that a rope is helpful to get off. This V2 was on a such a boulder
The crane on a pinnacle I just couldn't resist cimbing. The downclimbing of this was much harder.
Super hard highball potential
The hero shots are unlimited around there
Back at Emory Pass at the end of a fine day. Next day...run 38.5 miles!
