We reached the Rio Grande at the intersection with lower Alamo Canyon. Some bushwacking was mandatory.
At first we tried to avoid the bushwacking but couldn't find a way around.
All up in it. Feet wet and nasty in the bog and thicket.
Success! It took us probably 30 minutes to navigate through 100 yards of this stuff.

Then we regained a good trail to take us up to West Alamo Trail.
We followed the trail to the low point on the horizon just left of center here.
Great views! Despite it looking warm, it never got much above freezing.
