2012-08-25 - Grand Teton through the smoke. A little Photoshop work really brought out the detail. I can still taste the smoke! ::Cough:: ::Cough::

2012-08-27 - Grand Teton & Mt Owen. Below are the various aretes on Disappointment Pk. Irene's Arete is the furthest left.

2012-08-27 - More peaks to the south.
2012-08-27 - Cathedral Group (i.e. Teewinot, Owen & the Grand)
2012-08-27 - Mount Moran and the DSB nicely silhouetted.
2012-08-27 - Mt Moran & the DSB with the lower ledges visible.
2012-08-27 - Mount Moran from the east. The CMC route goes near the large dike, and you can see the Skillet Glacier on the right.
2012-08-27 - Mount Moran from Jackson Lake. From this angle, Skillet Glacier dominates.
2012-08-27 - Irene's Arete from the Meadows. It is the larger arete right of center.
2012-08-27 - Irene's Arete from above the meadows.
2012-08-27 - Irene's Arete from the Caves. You traverse over to it from here, although it is easy to end up too low, like we did. However, that just adds an OK approach pitch to get warmed up.
2012-08-27 - Lower pitches. Technically the route starts at the trees above. Oops.
2012-08-27 - P1 5.8 flaring groove. This was harder than it looked and definitely one of the route cruxes.
2012-08-27 - Middle Teton and the Lower Saddle. Bonney's Pinnacle (left) and Pinocchio Pinnacle (right) are also clearly visbile.
2012-08-27 - Thomas leading P2, at the 5.7 face section. This pitch was surprisingly steep and longer than it looks. Take note of the black pillar above compared to later photos.
2012-08-27 - Thomas leading P2 in the 5.7 corner.
2012-08-27 - Thomas reaching the upper 5.7 face section of P2.
2012-08-27 - Thomas on the P2 5.7 face section near the end. The pitch ends atop the pillar.
2012-08-27 - Thomas finishing P2. I found an easier and more secure finish stepping right instead of left where he did.
2012-08-27 - Old piton on P2.
2012-08-27 - Following P2 on the 5.7 face part. This was pretty steep!
2012-08-27 - P3 5.9 hand crack. I thought it felt more like 5.8 and reminiscent of Yosemite jam cracks.
2012-08-27 - P3 exposed step left to access the 5.8 left crack variation.
2012-08-27 - P3 5.9 crack variation. Very fun!
2012-08-27 - P4 5.7 exposed step around variation. We opted for the more tempting 5.9 stem directly above the belay.
2012-08-27 - Thomas leading the P4 5.9 stem variation.
2012-08-27 - Thomas higher on P4.
2012-08-27 - Nez Perce and South Teton.
2012-08-27 - P4 knife edge.
2012-08-27 - Looking back on the P4 knife edge.
2012-08-27 - P4 knife edge and Nez Perce above.
2012-08-27 - Nez Perce and Cloudveil Dome (right).
2012-08-27 - P5 5.9+ undercling-lieback variation. It is pretty steep and much more exposed than it appears in this picture. You step left over a 500 ft drop to start. I wasn't sure about leading this, but in the end I talked myself into it after 'investigating' halfway through the crux :-)
2012-08-27 - P5 more common 5.8 variation. It starts at the tree and takes a crack right, around the corner (barely visible above the tree).
2012-08-27 - Final ridge scramble.
2012-08-27 - Nez Perce at sunset.
2012-08-27 - Nez Perce at sunset as we simuled the remainder of the ridge.

2012-08-27 - Sunset on Cloudveil Dome, South Teton, and Middle Teton.
2012-08-27 - Sunset on South Teton.
2012-08-28 - Who says Evanston isn't diverse? Some interesting office tenants. This arrangement of neighbors could make for a good sitcom . . .
