Monument marking the Peabody Gnadenau Trail on Virgil Litke Farm. Many early settlers came on this trail from Peabody to find their new home near the just established village of Gnadenau in Marion County near the future Hillsboro, Kansas. Kathy, Arlin, and Clair Penner standing nearby. In 1874 a furrow was plowed to help mark the trail. Wagon wheel ruts are still visable in the native prairie field.

This tombstone was added by Daniel S Penner in memory of his grandmother Margaretha Janzen Gaede and his great aunt Margaret Gaede. They are buried at Ebenfeld Cemetery; Hillsboro, Kansas. It was previouly unmarked or the marker was lost. It is close to her husband Abraham B Gaede and her father-in-law Heinrich Gaede's grave.
