I am shopping for food to donate for the Champions for Kids program. Before I head to the store I clip some coupons to save money. Libby's Fruit and Vegetable coupons look good.
I get all my coupons together with my shopping list and head for Walmart.
I am shopping by myself today, on a busy Saturday afternoon.
Girl Scouts are selling cookies outside the store! I buy 3 boxes, we love Girl Scout cookies.
As soon as I enter the store I am overwhelmed with all the Easter displays. I am not shopping for Easter just yet.
I have a $5 coupon for infant formula. I don't need it, but it makes a great donation.
First on my lists is Breakfast on the Go. These are a nice quick snack or breakfast, and I have a coupon.
Berry Nut Blend sounds pretty healthy to me.
I am looking for Libby's Fruit. The only kind they have is peaches, so I get two cans of those. My kids love canned peaches.
I have some coupons for fruit juice, so I head there next.
These are mostly sugar, I am looking for 100% fruit juice.
These look good. Apple juice is always a popular choice with kids.
They have Mixed Berry too, but the only box on the shelf is crushed. So I get two Apple Juice.
The store is pretty disorganized. There are carts and pallets standing in the aisles blocking things, with no employees around. I'd expect better, especially on such a busy shopping day.
Now I am looking for Libby's vegetables. They stock asparagus...
Green beans, ...
Sweet Peas, ...
And a few different kinds of corn.
I decide most kids don't like asparagus, so I don't get that one.
I have some coupons for Hormel Completes, which make a good, quick meal.
They have ones specifically for kids, but I decide the adult versions make more sense.
Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Chicken with Dumplings are my choices.
Now I am looking for Planter's Peanut butter. Peanut butter is a good protein source.
I realize I forgot my cereal coupon! Oh well, Cheerios is on sale, so I get a box.
I notice Bush's Baked Beans are on sale. They are a nice quick meal.
I pick up a big can.
Time for some soup to finish off the shopping trip.
I get a large can of Chicken with Rice.
At the check out counter I pick up a copy of All of You magazine. I like all the coupons this magazine includes.
$78.74 worth of coupons this month, that is a lot of potential savings.
I head to the checkout lane.
I putt my coupons right on the juice boxes, so I won't forget to hand them over.
Here are all my purchases.
Check out the receipt, I went from 42.08 to 28.08! That is a pretty good savings rate.
