Edge of main road where gravel was put on top of wood chips. Chips were heavy there 2002 - 2006. Then gravel has been put since then with no bad effects from chips.
A hiking trail with chips. Have not put fresh chips on it for three years now. Some rot but path still mostly clear. Logs set on the sides to hold it all in place. Dog Jenna likes a quiet target range!
Wood Chip use in garden path. Not a road but thought I would show long term use of chips in garden paths. This is a steep slope and the chips prevent erosion.
Another view where wood chips were used and later topped with gravel. This is where the road was mushy and did have water at times. Still does. Wood chips used on sides still.
Longer view of main road where chips were dumped for years. Gravel topped it later. First the "crusher run" then a #2 gravel but we drove on wood chips for years. The road used to be low but chips improved the height.
Use of wood chips on terrace near Outdoor Wood Ovens and fire pit. Heavy use of chips prevents weeds and also improves drainage.
A path to the Out House. Heavy use of wood chips keeps weed down and improves drainage.
This is a close up of the side road where chips are still used mixed with gravel. We just toss on chips if there is a low spot and when we can afford it, we dump a bit of gravel. This section not driven on much.
Wood chips in Kitchen Garden.
Wood Chips on path to a hiking trail. I know this is not a road bed but thought I would show the use of chips. Gravel mixed here in front of the Bunk House steps. Gravel can be seen mixed with the chips.
Chips dumped on top of newspaper in a planting bed ready to get plants.
