the end of the street of the 9th of July
To cross the street of the 9th of July it takes two turns of the traffic lights. I have seen such wide streets only in Moscow.
Shops at Avenida Florida
Avenida Florida is a pedestrian shopping street for tourists (more expensive than the Santa Fe street)
A shopping mall at Avenida Florida
Fishing on Rio de la Plata
The Rio de la Plata is 200 km wide!!!
(but only 80 cm deep in average)
The domestic airport is nearly in the city center.
taking off to Bariloche
Villas in Villa Huinid, Bariloche
View of the Tiger Lake
An Argentian tree that looks like a plastic Christmas tree - but I forgot its name :-(
The famous hotel Llao llao (pronounced Jao-Jao). In the local language this means "yummy-yummy" and refers to a fruit of a parasite mushroom growing on trees.
the Tiger Lake connects here to a smaller lake. There are many many lakes in this district.
Jonathan Grudin, Pierre Tchounikine, Sergio Ochoa
this time me instead of Sergio
what incredible blue!!
Mirador - a place with a good view.
One can see the two lakes - the big one (Tiger lake) and the little one (somehting with "M")
the best view of Bariloche (accessible by standard car)
lamb is roasted here
Joey Geroge and Pierre Tchounikine

Recipe for Mate: two thirds tea, one third water.
you need a special spoon to sip
the taste is ....
for Pierre it was "once is enough!"
Once again the picture perfect view
local crafts: these rugs are very colourful, but look exactly the same as the Bulgarian, Turkish, and middle eastern rugs to my non-expert eye.
tons of chocolates to pick from
not for me -- thanks!
We are going to see Tango show next!
and his Brazilian-Japanese student, Seiji

fast forward to the next morning;
we are embarking on a boat tour on the Tiger lake
here is a boat (but not ours)
this is our boat
happy on board
even happier :-)
the park ranger watching that noone falls of the boat
the favorite pastime: feeding the seagulls
arriving at an island
the forest here was planted by the settlers since the local trees grew so slowly and so twisted, that they were of no use
so they planted sequoias, since they grow very fast
these are local trees: they are 40 years old!!! Imagine how slow...
very lovely cat
she was purring, and friendly until...
an enemy came.... what ensued afterwards was worth filming, but I wasn't so fast. A chase, ending up with our lady climbing up one of the giant trees, and the "gentleman" making a frightful jump with all 4 legs spread like a spider.... then he abandoned the pursuit.
some birds here - watch carefully
This is an example of a "walking tree" - one of the special local trees kept from walking away on the island
Another example of local flora: gossiping trees
Not sure what type of trees are these, some seem to be stunned trees, some are dead tress, some are dying trees. All are very twisted, very hard, very red.
This forest is called "Bambi forest", since they say Walt Disney roamed here to get his inspiration for the Bambi film
These trees look as if they are going to run away soon
or fly away
underground trees hold the overground down not to fly away
Araucaria -- that is the name of the Argentinian tree that I couldn't remember 150 pictures ago!
A better name for this tree: MONKEY PUZZLE TREE !
I have no idea why I took this picture
leaving the peninsula
Beautiful sunshine in the end of our trip
An original old Citroen in the center of Bariloche.
Buenos Aires two days later.
The next pictures are just street views, as I had 3 hours to walk
Famous place with market for old things
