July 15, 2008. I inadvertently stuck my hand in this nest and got stung for my troubles. This photo was taken moments before all of these wonderful little critters were sent to wasp heaven thanks to Dow Chemical.

It's real. An experiment in a construction zone in Oklahoma City in March 1998 to see if the unusual speed limit would earn greater compliance. It didn't work and soon the construction zone speed limit was reduced to the normal 50 mph. We found that most speeders just ignored this sign like they do the others and of those who paid attention, a handful may have been dyslexic because they slowed to 25 mph. LOL
Old bridges, I love 'em! This one is viewed traveling south on Highway 18 at Salt Creek in southwestern Osage County Oklahoma between the the towns of Fairfax and Ralston. A short distance ahead the road curves to the right and crosses the Arkansas River into Pawnee County on a similar much longer bridge. We were on a storm chase at the time and the storm in the distance was kind enough to produce a nice tornado shortly after we got near it. May 1, 2008
This old and seldom used bridge is located on the Cimarron River about 3 miles west of Dover, Oklahoma in Kingfisher County on N2830 Road, a county road that is seldom used by anyone except locals. This view is traveling north. The road was very rough and the bridge in disrepair so we drove it slowly during a June 10, 2005 storm chase.
A sign it's not going to be one of your best days.
Time exposure of a police helicopter circling a nearby business. The camera's limit was 30 seconds or I'd have gotten a complete circle. March 7, 2004

The old curve on Highway 152 between Mustang and Union City, Oklahoma in Canadian County. This curve existed since the road was created and in 1993 the state redesigned the road and made it straight. This curve caught many drivers unaware and many crashed. This view is looking east from Richland Road. This location is in the rural Oklahoma City city limits and is also listed as SW 74th Street. This photo was taken shortly before the widening began.
