Eric and I mug for the camera before my first marathon.
Dad and I before the race
With gatorade, mask, and gloves in hand, minutes before the start time.
Mom and Dad at the starting line.
I am not a number, I am a free man! (ala' the television show 'The Prisoner.') Anyone get that? Anyone? Anyone?
Line up for the race.
On your mark... get set...
Well come on! Go Already!
What's taking you so long?
It's about time. So where is Steve?
Oh, here he is. Way at the back.
"Why am I doing this? I'm tired! I wanna go home! Is is much farther, Papa Smurf?"
I'll be back.
Ah, there is nothing like the beauty of New England foliage! Too bad the season hasn't hit yet.
Here I come!
At long last!
"Here, hold these. I won't be needing them anymore." But unbeknownst to him, he would need them in about a mile, and for every mile thereafter. Good thing he gave them away immediately.
There I go, not yet experiencing the loneliness of the long distance runner.
Oh, I'm feeling the loneliness.
But by here I got over it.
Dad in the woods.
Dad is still in the woods.
Let's stand on a bridge in the woods!
Yes, we all agree that would be a lot of fun!
We still agree!
A river runs through it.
And here also.
While Megan wanders about, Carrie has found something disgusting she will probably want to take home with her.
"I claim this land in the name of the Klingon Empire!"
Mom and Dad in the woods.
Perhaps they are lost in the woods.
Will Megan find her way out of the woods?
"We have travelled far...."
Is it Steve?
Could that be him in the distance?
Or is Carrie just throwing herself at some strange guy?
Luckily, it is Steve, and Carrie joins him for a grueling couple of feet.
"Slow down, Carrie. This is the vehicles top speed!"
Nearing the half way point.
"Are you looking at me bum?"
I didn't come here looking for trouble, I just came to do the marathon shuffle!
Dad enjoying himself during a meal of fine cuisine.
Mom also enjoying herself.
Steve finishes his first marathon in a time of 5:12:48. Out of 231 racers, he ranked 176. Not bad for a first try. Already, the hunger for another marathon begins...
This is easily the finest picture of the two of us ever taken.
Eric and Megan smiling at the Colosseum restaurant.
Steve and Eric at the dinner table, where they belong!
Mom enjoying a potent beverage.
Some guy and his son.
My laser eyes will destroy you!
