This is where the UTMB would have passed through Courmourour

Prerace excitment. About an hour before the start.
Rebecca not showing how stressed out she is.

The views of the mountain just before the race started. It did not take long for the rain to start.

I think it was probably a worse night for the crew (photo by Rebecca)
There was no visibility the entire run. This is about as good as it got in the morning.
Typically trail segment. (although this stretch was relatively mud free).
Running the last stretch back to Chaminox and the endof the race. Only a few miles to go.

The next day we hiked up to Rifugio Bertone. The UTMB would have taken this trail out of Courmayeur.
Mount Blanc almost making an appearance. If only the weather could have been like this one day earlier :-(
On the Tour de Mount Blanc trail.
There is a lot of "ousta" in this memorial.
Rebecca and Paula trying to figure out the memorial.
Courmayeur and the ski area above town

The views were awesome. I am glad that I got to see them, but would have rather seen them while running around Mount Blanc.
Movie: View from above the Rifugio.
The ridge looks like it is on fire
Even an ass can enjoy the nice views
The views got even better....
Entering the Mount Blanc tunnel on the way to Geniva to catch my flight back to Vienna.
The race wrist bands were made out of fabric instead of the plastic common in US races.
My finisher's vest
I will be back to do the full route one of these years.
