Early morning start to hike Mt. Mitchell (6684 feet). We hiked up Colbert Ridge then went across the Black Mountain Crest Trail and descended on the Mt. Mitchell Trail. Total distance was about 14 miles.
There was no rain when we started, but that quickly changed.
Did not take long for the rain jackets to be put on.
A typical view for this day.
You can tell that this area gets a lot of rain.
Lots of balck berries!
The bears did not get all of them.
There was a lot of mushrooms also.
There was a rope to assist in some areas.
The rain made for some slippery mudd.
Paul on Big Tom (A peak on the ridge before Mt. Mitchell)
This is Mt. Craig. Normally there would be good views here, but all I saw was clouds.
