Cuba and Nova not sure if they want to climb another 13er after already climbing 4 peaks over the last 2 days.
First view of the Northeast Ridge. This would be my ascent route.
I traversed over to the grassy slopes to gain the ridge. It turns out my altimeter was off and I went to high before cutting over to the Northeast Ridge.
Looking up the Northeast Ridge to Mount Ouray.
I felt a great sense of relief when I saw this rock cairn. I was not sure if i was on the correct ridge line to Mount Ouray.
View of the more “difficult” section. Staying slightly to the right of the top of the ridge crest was easy going.
Looking down into the Devils Armchair.
This was the worst part of the ridge.
There were flowers everywhere and of every color.
Final stretch to the summit.
The Vallieres were up here last week as claimed!
Looking north towards Shavano and Tabeguache
There was a bunch of very flat shelters on top. This one was the nicest.
Looking down the East Ridge, my descent route.
Final look at the Northeast Ridge.
After 5 13ers and 16,667 feet of climbing, I finally tired out Cuba.
Nova still had some energy.
There was a nice trail down the East Ridge.
I still had to drop down into the Devils Armchair.
Entering the bristlecone pine forest.
Looking back at Mount Ouray.
This was a neat forest to go through
Finally found the trail as I started to descend the steeper section along Grays Creek.
Mount Ouray on the drive out.
