Since I was at a conference in Palm Desert, I decided to talk the afternoon and check out Joshua Tree National Park. Entering through the West Station.
We very quickly saw some Joshua Trees. No Suprise there!
As you can image, there are going to be a bunch of pictures of Joshua Trees. This is uplose.
No Joshing, there is a Yucca in this shot.
Joshuas as far as you can see.
They even grow next to rocks.
There has to be some rocking climbing around here.
Sophie joined me on the adventure.
There are lots of climbing routes in the park.
We stopped and took a short walk to Barker Dam.
Close up of Prickly Pear Cactus.
Dried Yucca Flower.
Green grass. This is just above the dam
The Dam damn it!
Ducks even live here.
Even though it was 100 degree out, the water did not look very refreshing.
Dam builders note.
Looking down stream. Well there really was not a stream.
Only a seep which these reeds really liked.
More Joshua Trees on the way back to the car.
My attempt at an artsy shot.
We stopped at the Keys View, an overlook along the way.
Sophie running up hill in 100+ degree heat to catch up to me. And she is still smiling!
Some views from the high point.
We had a little issue when we returned to the car. I left the windows cracked to keep it from getting too hot. I guess the bees were hot, so they flew into the car and were going into the air vents. There must have been over 50 bees in the car. I had to turn the car on and put the heat on to get them out.
Our last stop was to the Cholla Cactus Garden.
There was a lot of Chollas there.
It would suck to loose your vision going through this area.
Looking down a dead Cholla
After this is was back to the hotel in Palm Desert.
