Jaleo resting in the back of the car as we drive to the Kitzbuhel Alps Region in Austria.
Our first stop was a short hike up the Innersbachklamm. A Klamm in a gorge.
The Klamm has walkway up it. This reminded me of Utah slot canyons but with a lot of water.
The klamm was about a 1/4 of a mile long
Some sections were very narrow.
Lot of water flowing through
Typical Austrian country home.
Our next goal of the day was a hike up the Kleberkopf. Here is the start at the Bergeralm gasthaus.
Rebecca vs the cows
The cows seemed very interested in us.
Kleberkopf, our goal of the day. The views got better as we got higher.
Snow covered peaks in the distance.
There were lots of electic fences that we had to cross.
Almost to Kleberkopf
There were lots of wildflowers out.
Jaleo having a great day.
Rebecca was having a good day also.
View across the valley was great except for the smoke coming from the valley.
Some more impressive peaks.
Spielberghorn. We were thinking of going up this peak also, but the weather came in before we had a chance to decide.
Cannot beat those views.
Looking down into the valley.
Jaleo with the Spielberghorn in the background.
We came across on the upper trail across the base of the mountain.
Better get down. The rain wall is coming up the valley.
The next day we went for a hike up to the Wildsee(lake). It was raining in the morning but we hoped that the weather would be nice even though it was for rain all day. We started our hike from the Gaushaus.
There was lots of water everywhere. We are not in New Mexico anymore.
The clouds occasionally cleared giving us views. In the distance is the Speilberghorn and the Kleis where we were yesterday.
Cool structure with a grass covered roof.
There was still a little snow, but nothing that presented any issues..
Trail on the way up.
First view of the Wildseeloderhaus
Rebecca coming up.
At the Wildsee.
The Wildseeloderhaus. What great views this place would have in good weather.
Jaleo looking for Rebecca
Where is Rebecca?
There she is!
We stopped in the Wildseeloderhaus and got a hot drink. You gotta love having all these huts along the trail.
After leaving the Wildseeloderhaus we headed up to Henne Peak
All the trails are well marked.
Cutting across below Henne.
The clouds would occasionally break a little bit giving us some good views. Looking back down at Wildseeloderhaus
The top of Henne. It seems like most of the peaks have a cross on top.
Rebecca almost to the top.
Just a little bit of the ridge appearing.
We had a brief window on top when the clouds broke a little bit.
Views from the top of Henne
Views from the top of Henne. Note the ski lift. There were lifts all over the place up here.
Coming back down. We actually made a loop out of the hike and did not return back to the Wildseeloderhaus.
On the loop back we made a short detour to the Hochhorndlerspitze
Flowers on the edge. After this is started to rain. But we ended the day with a beer at the Gasthous where we started.
On Sunday we woke to a very rainny day so we opted to do another short Klamm hike.
The walkways in this Klamm were very impressive.
The walkways offered good views into this narrow canyon.
With all the rain there we a water fall flowing into the Klamm
This is Klammgeist
Rebecca almost to the end of the Klamm
On the walk back we got a few view down into the Klamm from above.
Despite the rain, it was a great weekend see more of Austria. Lots more of cool things to see.
