The Undergraduate Honors Research Program (UHRP) went on its annual field trip between the 27th of March and the 1st of April. Through the generosity of our sponsors, Jim Farnsworth and Tom Fanning, the UHRP program has gone to the California coast to study plate boundaries and the geology of Franciscan accretionary prisms with Mark Cloos, the Atacamanian Desert in northern Chile with Phil Bennett, Mark Helper, and Randy Marrett, and the Florida Reef Tract with Terry Quinn. The recently completed trip to study the Cretaceous carbonates of the Lower Pecos River Canyon, though perhaps a bit less exotic, was none-the-less, an extremely rewarding and adventurous trip. These experiences provide our top undergraduates with unique and unforgettable experiences that will ultimately shape them as future professional geoscientists. We are deeply appreciative to our sponsors for creating these opportunities for our students.
