I've had this trunk for ages; always hated the color, and it got pretty beaten up. I set out to refinish it to use it for some equine stuff storage.
Now: Red mahogany, with some protective hardware, solid handles, solid wheels. The swivel castors on the left there are heavy-duty, but I still had to build some supports to make them tall enough to match the off-road wheels you can see on the right. To move across rough ground, I'll just lift the castor side and roll it on the wheels.
Now: Red mahogany, with some protective hardware, solid handles, solid wheels. And internal removable sliding shelves I built.
Shelves I built out of some rather nice weathered pallet planks.
I've already started putting my stuff in it ;) but you can see the shelf support here.
Before: poop brown and scratched up. That was some nasty paint, too. It was like sticky putty.
