I stayed in two hotels in Chiang Mai... New Mitrapap and the New Asia Hotel... both are not new ... not that I care anyhow... they are cheap... Mitrapap has a very speedy free wifi, hot water and cable tv in a room a little less boring than this one for 230baht a night while New Asia has none of those frills in a bigger room at 250 a night
Sunday market inside a wat complex in central CM
I did not open the lids to see what delicacies await... probably some soupy curry sauces that go over noodles with heapings of vegies... good stuff... I love the big clay pots, they make the food look more natural
I was minding my own business checking email on my laptop when this little guy jumped up on the table next to me. he danced around a bit and scratched the table here and there. Such displays seemed to disgust several humans in the area as when they saw him they turned away.
people shopping at the Sunday street market
lots of arts and crafts on sale at the market... nice to look at bit I have no place to store stuff and I am not much of a consumer anyhow... more of a crafts voyeur...
a shot up the famous night bazaar street in CM...
I much prefer the older wats over the new gaudy white and shiny ones... these older ones are less shiny but they make up for it with character
25 baht veggie lunch in Chiang Mai
That is Ball - Niels, he said he walks through the wat grounds everyday on his way to school. so he showed me around the site
now we jump to Lampang... an example of a modern Thai pub... I am attracted to the cozy feeling...sit outside, relax... not crowded and local... few foreigners in lampang

nightly live band at the Riverside Restaurant in Lampang
the first night in lampang I stayed at this teak wood guesthouse on the river... 400 baht... gorgeous place... but I came away with many spider bite welts and had an unsatisfactory sleep as teak wood walls do not stop the outside sounds too well... nevertheless I highly recommend a night there
200 baht for 30 minutes or 300 baht for one hour... nice way to enjoy the town... better if you can share the cost with 3-4 people... I was too cheap to cough up the 200 minimum baht for a horse experience
I met Pak and his mom at the local BigC department store. His mom was selling some sort of health products. When we finished talking she asked me where I was going... I responded that I wanted to see a few sights in town.. so she instructed Pak to go show me around...
do you feel so welcome... 30 baht for people they choose to charge 30 and 50 baht for those who do not know it says 30 baht.. when I complained they laughed at me.. so I missed a chance to see the place... please do all you can to fight corrupt dual charges...
these are used to wake up your neighbors
