Broken tabs after crashing headlong into a motorbike at 37kmph.
SRAM Adapter. One side is for the old 305 type to mount, and the other fits onto the new rotating mount for the 500/800 series. Paid 8 dollars including shipping.
The tabs side of the adapter.
Side view showing both sides of the adapter.
The side which needs to be completely removed.
Dremel excising the required portions.
Almost filed down flat.
The tools used.
Covered the holes for the barometric readings so they don't get blocked with dust.
Filing the remnants of the old mount area flat.
Done as neat as I could. Hole in the center is for the speaker.
As it would be fixed. The tricky part is getting it absolutely central, as well as tabs perpendicular, so that the Garmin does not mount off center or angled.
Final result is pretty neat.
