The Building for Kids
Dorrie Hipschman, Director of The Building for Kids (Appleton’s Children’s Museum) has arranged for some special activities at the museum. Participants will have a tour of the museum, which will highlight its mission of building imagination, creativity, and confidence through learning opportunities that are innovative, deeply-engaging, and long-lasting. Part of the tour will be a stop in the museums’ “Water Room.” The Water Room has four different water tables that are geared for kids from very small (30 lbs who can just sit up in baby seat) all the way up to adults. It is open-ended and self-directed. Kids learn how water moves, what an Archimedes screw is and how it works, dams, water flow, ways to build with water filling clear tubes, water generators, water wheels, floating and sinking, etc. There are rain coats in various sizes as it can get quite wet.
