the famous Bund, which separates Pudong and Puxi. this is the Puxi side...i've hardly ever touched the Pudong side wahaha.
many buildings along the riverside are lit up. looks like i'm not even in China anymore huh? it's supposed to have lots of French influences because they were here before wwii.
my very first tang bao here! this one is like a huge xiaolongbao where you poke the straw in to suck out the soup before eating the rest of it.
finished.
they sell xiaolongbao by the truckload here. 12 for 20rmb...which is about SGD4...and this is not the cheapest out there. luckily, i love xiaolongbao and am not sick of it yet. looking at this photo makes me hungry...
ssy eating his first tangbao when he visited. this is the real tangbao...it's not supposed to be like xiaolongbao, it's soupier, and has crab bits in it. this place doesn't provide straws cos it says that people scald their tongues if they use straws...which is true!
the safe way to eat a tangbao. kiss it! then it won't burn you!
the most famous shopping street in shanghai at sunset.
they countdown to the next train. singapore should adopt this too, haha.
our favourite delivery place. their youtiao is good. this is chicken noodle soup...before combining the noodles and the soup...check out the layer of oil in the soup.
we couldn't take it anymore so we finally started cooking one month after moving in.
our first home-cooked meal! the purple thing is weird, yes, we should have bought normal green veggie instead of the purple one, looks inedible haha. the bottom left dish was brought back by me, leftovers from my supervisor's yummy treat...it's veggie with cheese, good stuff.
my housemate invented a new dish which is going to become his trademark. beef with choya! yum!!! (choya is this fruity alcohol with a sweet and sour taste, made from plums i think)
we sit down to dinner!
i woke up today to BRIGHT SUN. this is the view from my bus stop. the sky is usually not this colour...it's grey! it's probably about the 3rd sunny day i've seen here since i arrived...
i stay opposite shanghai stadium. convenient because it's one mrt stop from my uni and the tour buses all leave from here.
the other side of my bus stop. blue blue sky!!!
my bus stop. i take 89 to work and da qiao 6 xian to jiaotong uni.
my work bus. how good it feels to not get on~
the guys behind me sleeping in class.
the track next to my school building.
the way out of school...looks a bi cui huh.
nearer the school entrance...slightly less cui! and pretty blue sky!
another angle. okay lah jiaotong so far looks quite cui but the main areas are better. i take side roads to class.
huaihai rd, where we like to frequent for shopping etc.
i like the bald trees. have noticed that they appear to prop up the crazy overhead cables too, thus possibly saving us from electrocution.
sun slowly setting in a rare perfect sky.
random park at huaihai rd.
pretty...
this was quite paiseh cos i started taking photos of the ”birds“ before the guys laughed at me, saying they were kites.
would have been pretty if i could maintain steady hands while taking pictures,
