On the ferry Sunday afternoon...maybe one of my last trips on it for a while.
The familiar views of the Gulf Islands.
Totem pole at the Vancouver Airport. There are quite a few of them.
The Fairmont Hotel at the airport, rooms start at $339
Luxury accomodations--didn't stay here though, found some seats and spread out on them for the night since my flight was early in the morning, too early for the ferries the next day, therefore I came a day early
I liked the "streetlights" around this area of the airport
Foodcourt where I had breakfast
Where I ate breakfast
Continuing the exploring of the airport, I decided to go up and see the Fairmont Lobby
In the lobby
The spa inside the hotel
Self-portrait to prove I was there
Hmm...comfy chairs--maybe this is where I should have slept during the night, I wonder if they would have kicked me out? :)
Around 4am, seeing the planes outside the Fairmont window
A big hunk of jade at the airport
Express Train map at the Detroit airport. I arrived at gate A75 (the red area on the far left) and my next flight left at A21 (the red area at the far right). I didn't want to take the Express Train after sitting for 3+ hours, so I decided to walk. It took me an almost an hour with the moving platforms. (I was also going back and forth looking for a place to have lunch)
Our hike to go blue-berrying. Found a cool stone wall, they seem to be around Massachusetts a lot.
We needed to rest from the uphill climb
My beautiful mommy.
This farm and orchard had apples.
Lots of different types
My mom was happy to pose with a whole bunch of them.
And eat some too (this one was a bit on the sour side).
More posing with apple trees
I just liked this one
And then we found a fence with grapes!!!
Mmm....
Blueberries...
It was basically the end of the season so we were basically picking the last of their crop.
Picking blueberries...they were smaller this picking.
Our harvest: 3 pints blueberries, 1 apple, 1 waterbottle (we didn't pick that one)
The road to the blueberry patch
The farm pond
We saw the signs to the peach trees...and found this
And this...
Very yummy looking and smelling
So we didn't resist and picked a few to take home.
Hay!
Me with the hay. This was by the hill on our way back home.
Tomatoes in my mom's yard.
We ate these.
Some plum tomatoes.
Some green tomatoes.
Basket of picked tomatoes
Kamote tops! Essential Filipino green.
One of my mom's baby eggplants..I don't think they'll make it, fall is coming and the weather is getting cool.
Decided to do the walk in this hill.
My mom and I enjoying the fresh air.
Views from the hill
The trail continues
Wildflowers
The kitchen counter in the middle of siopao-making. We made siopao Wednesday night for the family reunion.
Siopao waiting to be steamed.
Baltimore at my aunt's new apartment--I bond with baby Raphael, my newest cousin.
Isn't he soooo cute?!!!
My little brother. Being himself.
Baby Raphael
My brother rescuing the carrot cake. We only had whipped cream for icing but it kinda unwhipped in the fridge leaving craters on the top. So we sprinkled it with almonds.
Downtown Baltimore near their Inner Harbor.
Baltimore Aquarium
My aunt's new (yet unfurnished) place where we all got together. (I met my second cousins and their family for the first time as well as my aunt's "new" husband and baby.)
(L-R) My brother Charlie with Everette, Annie, Mark and fiance Divine, Mom, Auntie Bebeth and baby Raphael, Uncle Rainier, Will and his wife (my second cousin) Marie-Tess.
Tailgating party Sunday noon near the stadium in Baltimore

Driving back home, going through New York
New York by night as seen from a moving car. This is how bad the traffic was, it's already dark night and we're still making our way through NY.
Craving Filipino food
Where we ate: Perlas ng Silangan (Pearl of the Orient)
Only in a Filipino restaurant: fork & spoon.
My parents "in Luneta."
May!!! and I...after who knows how many years (9?)
With THE FOOD!!!
Halo-halo, an essential Filipino dessert.
Never pass up the halo-halo.
After it's been halo-haloed--see how I spilled it over the sides?
(Drum roll please) My mom is driving!
Proof that I was with her in the car while she was driving (and survived! just kidding, Mom).
More carrot cake. We were craving more carrot cake so we made another one.
This is for my food blog.
More food pics--rice with ginataan gabi served with lemon wedges. (It's dried "elephant ear" leaves cooked in fresh coconut cream and milk, garlic, ginger & lemon-grass. Absolutely wonderful!
Flying back home. The strange circular farms in Utah.
