Linfield 38, California Lutheran 17, Nov. 21, 2009 -- Ouch -- Linebacker Roland Jenkins of California Lutheran University reminds Linfield College running back Simon Lamson that "pounding it up the middle" works on both sides of the ball in NCAA Division III. When Lamson was brought down, Linfield was leading 38-17, also the eventual score for the game, with less than six minutes to go in the first-round NCAA playoff game in McMinnville, Ore. There was no penalty. Jenkins was Cal Lu's second leading tackler. Thirty-two teams competed in D3 playoff games Saturday, with winners advancing each week toward the national championship game, which will be played Dec. 19 in Salem, Va. Linfield, which holds college football's longest all-division winning-season record at 54 years, last won a national football championship in 2004. The Wildcats, ranked fifth in the nation going into the playoffs, face the No. 7 ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at home next weekend.
