English Lavender with sea pinks.
English Lavender with sea pinks: these form the key colours and textures in our front garden.
More pinks and blues.
The pinks are prolific this year - a little food, and enough (but not too much water) and they go to town.
Close up of the pinks.
In 2006 the lavenders were getting established and we added the lithadora and the sea pinks. The old "snail central" privet hedge was still there, but went soon after this photo was taken.
Lithadora - has a fantastic blue almost glowing colour especially just before sundown.
Once the hedge had gone we were planning New Zealand tea tree bushes (Leptospermum) and here they are.
Sparaxis - we love'em.
These were our inspiration and are still probably the best we have - they just appeared in our lawn.
Calla lily.
Early buds showing on the new sparaxis.
One of the rose bushes we moved from where the ginkgo was planted.
Morning dew, rose leaves.
More morning dew.
A new sparaxis.
Our Japanese Maple - Acer palmatum.
Guess what? You eat it in pies. But not this bit.
Early buds on the Acer. How exciting!
It's that funny flower bud again. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and custard!
Sort of like wild garlic, and edible.
Buck-eye in a bucket - California Buck-eye that is.
More leptospermum.
We do get frost, just very rarely.
Frost on the deck.
In the front garden.
