First we went to visit the animals -- we saw lots of cows but nothing was worth photographing till this goat.
This was hilarious!
Too bad the sign is laminated.
FYI, "Box Butte" is the name of the county these goats are from.
Timmy will pet the animals, Jacob won't.
Mommy sow with 10 babies. Babies were born on Aug. 9.
Nap time!
The babies woke up and it's feeding time!
This guy is HUGE!
Yeah, he needs a lady.
Bathing the pigs, getting ready to show them.
Bathing the cows...
YAY!
This is in the builder's union building. The boys got to practice hammering nails into the 2x4s.
This is some sort of construction vehicle simulator. Timmy can't reach the controls, though.
This is a dump truck racing game. Timmy couldn't reach the controls here either.
But Jacob could!
The tractor exhibit.
The boys were dying giggling at these signs...there were lots of them on the modern equipment.
I asked the boys to pose to show how BIG this is! It's for industrial corn harvesting.
My favorite of all these signs! I call him "Mr. Twisty".
Man that's big!!!
The kids found a Lego building contest.
O...M...G!
All things considered, this isn't exactly HORRIBLE...but to call it a "sundae" sort of ruins it for me.
Dinner time! We went to the food pavilion that features Nebraska food vendors. Valentino's Pizza for Timmy.
Runza for Jacob!
Dippin' Dots for dessert...
This robot was freaky...he was being controlled from somewhere nearby, he was talking to Timmy and me.
He asked me to shake his hand...
Then asked Dad to take a nice picture of us. I never did find the controller....
U. of Nebraska Dairy ice cream!
A 600+ lb. block of cheddar!
This is a cow milking trainer, if you did it right, water came out. Gross.
Her name is "Daisy".
The giant pumpkins!
This is the biggest pumpkin at the fair, 445 lbs...Love Timmy's pose!
Rides, finally! I made the boys wait and wait and wait until the very end!
Crazy plane!
Timmy was allowed to ride this with Jacob the first time, you had to be 42" to do that without an adult.
But then when the boys wanted to ride it again right away, the carnie didn't allow him to. She re-measured and he came in UNDER 42"! Sigh...
So off to the zoo train ride...
The giant slide...Jacob's on the left.
Timmy's coming down....
The NASCAR ride, one of the boys' favorites!
Fun house!
They're on a cotton candy high here, it's 9:10pm!
Jacob didn't want to, but Timmy wanted to ride the dragon roller coaster by himself!
My baby's growing up!
The last ride...the noisy motorcycles...
I told the boys they could each play a game after the rides...
Timmy won a goldfish tossing a ping pong ball into a small fishbowl!
Timmy was so proud, but Jacob got very upset. "Mommy, I didn't win a goldfish...it's not fair..." It was perfectly fair, but we let Jacob choose another game. We guided him towards one of those "every play a win" kind of games.
Jacob played a dart game and won a stuffed frog. The world is in balance again! Now let's go home!
