Off in the distance from the sidewalk I'm on, I see them: PLANTS! I immediately ran over to check it out!
There are at least two kinds of plants here: these leafy things...
And this plant with FLOWERS! WOW!
Looks like something in the daisy/carnation family...these mounds weren't more than knee-high.
I know, I'm getting like Maryann here, but I was so intrigued in how these were even surviving in this climate...
A big patch, this still wasn't very tall, it just spread out.
I can't tell is this is another kind of plant, or a dead version of the yellow flowering plant.
On the right, you see a plant that looks like it was pulled out of the ground. My fault. I was trying to gently shake the dust off the leaves to get a better view, and it came right out of the ground. I'm probably going to jail...
Well, since it's now out of the ground, I might as well pick it up and get a nice closeup, right?
Hey -- a 3rd kind of plant! This looks like something in the sedum family, the leaves are thick, but really small.
Enjoy my fights with the camera to get a closeup of the leaves. It kept focusing on the background leaves.
This is good...
A parting shot. I've since come across one more similar patch of foliage (the same plants) but since it's right next to a gate guard shack, I couldn't photograph it if I wanted to.
