I had a few hours in Sydney between my flights from Cairns to Sydney to Wellington, so I met up with Darren, an old coworker from Weta, who is now working in Sydney and he was gracious enough to give me a quick little preview of the city... definitely worth revisiting in nicer weather! It rained cats and dogs but it was still beautiful to see.

Stream from Two Towers

Jalil brought us to this awesome spot close to where we stopped for breakfast on Sunday, after our hike, and it was the scene in The Two Towers where Gollum is chasing a fish down a stream over some rocks. Sam is questioning Frodo's trust in the filthy creature and says the famous line: "Can you 'ere yourself? You barely eat.. you barely sleep... <something bad about the ring yadda yadda yadda>"

Tongariro Crossing

The eight hour, 17 km hike around Mt. Nuarahoe, or Mount Doom, from the Lord of the Rings movies. Views were stunning. We travelled in a fellowship of nine: Martha, Jee, Pete, Scott, Todd, Jalil, Kevin, Marchand, and myself. This was not your average nature walk. Pretty intense stuff!

Weta's Holiday Party took place on the 7th of December at St. John's Bar on the waterfront. Very snazzy place... we got 3 free drink tickets and a glass of champagne (I scored two just by asking for another)! Pretty cool when the Ukelele Orchestra came to play Outkast's "Hey Ya"... I was too busy dancing to take a picture of them...shucks!

Bowling night at "The Lanes" just a stone's throw from the Duxton hotel...celebrating the birthday of the talented animator Dennis! Funky place... super cool. The lanes are a little shorter than regulation... but it's all about hangin out and havin a blast! It was definitely fun times.
