The park's entrance. It rained overnight, but as the day went on it cleared up.
Right inside the gate.
The gate from inside the park.
Looking down the entrance midway.
Down towards the 50's area.
And the other side.
Up towards the gate.
First up: Amusement Today's #1 steel coaster. The coaster formerly known as Superman: Ride of Steel.
I thought the ride was fantastic.
Airtime all over the place.
And I mean all over the place.
And strong forces in the twister section.
Too bad the renovation added blasting audio that just hurts your ears...
...and new restraints that rest on the middle of my thighs.
A look at Bizarro's "theming". This also counts as my picture of the actual Catwoman coaster.
Add it all up, and I guess I was disappointed.
If I would've ridden it last year or earlier, it would easily be my #1 steel coaster. But since it hurt so much, I don't think I can rank it highly.
The blue and purple aren't as striking as red and blue, but don't look bad.
Bizarro is found in the Metropolis area of the park.
I guess the Washington Redskins play in Metropolis. Why the Redskins? Wouldn't the Patriots make more sense?
Earth IS square!
I think it'd be clever to have an ATM here.
Batman: The Dark Knight. The roughest B&M I've been on.
But its an intense ride.
Too bad it suffered from the worst operations in the park.
The park has a nice collection of flat rides.
You can't get away from them.
Probably the most barren area of the park. Very few buildings and few trees (providing shade).
See what I mean?
Only worth three pictures...
*SMACK* *SMACK* *SMACK*
I missed the Wiggles (and Dora) generation. Thank goodness.
Here's a flat ride.
Into the 50's area.
Which is very nice.
A bit further down the midway.
I think I've seen this before.
Another flat.
I suppose you can consider it a flat. I should've rode it, since it is a double-shot. Didn't know that at the time.
Coming up onto the entrance midway.
Theater game booth.
And the entrance midway begins.
The Thunderbolt sign is very old, and dates back into the park's Riverside days.
It could use a coat of paint.
I think everyone would prefer if this plaque read, "Thunderbolt stands as the second oldest roller coaster in the Six Flags chain of parks".
Though with the addition of the building on the left, the sign lost its left side.
Into the park's pseudo-western village.
Can you call it theming if it doesn't extend to the rides? Nonetheless, the buildings looked good.
Looking back towards the entrance midway.
The gondolas of the park's skyride are orbs!
Much of the park looks nice like this.
Looking back towards the other half.
Pandemonium was my first Gerstlauer spinner.
It offered some good spinning.
And a twisted layout.
The first half is kinda like a traditional mouse.
But then it drops into sharp banked turns and abrupt drops.
That girl can't bear it.
One last overview.
May I please go to an amusement park without seeing ads everywhere?
This is the New England Skyway's station in the back of the park.
This strange walkway leads to Cyclone's entrance and Catapult.
And another flat.
(the same) Another flat in operation.
Cyclone. What a surprise!
Its a very imposing structure.
With some great drops and laterals (in places).
It was really hard to get pictures of.
It sits on the edge of the park and is SO BIG.
Its an intense ride that's not too rough. Too bad it is trimmed to death.
If the ride was this intense when neutered, I can only imagine it prior to "fixing".
Even from across the park it still stands out.
If you look closely, you can see the the track of the drop before it was reprofiled.
From Cyclone's line. There were signs highlighting the iconic wooden coasters at Six Flags parks. What's wrong with this picture?
Only worth one picture.
*SMACK* *SMACK* *SMACK* With surprising goodness behind.
The park's Looney Toons kid's area.
Six Flags must be trying to out do Cedar Fair. But instead of a trash can every eight feet, an employee every eight feet.
What's wrong with this picture? What's the story behind this picture?
I didn't mention it in the written trip report, but I rode Catwoman's Whip. It was a usual Zierer Tivoli.
Obligatory shot.
As I was walking by this guy was preparing for a magic show on the midway.
And so I watched. The grand finale featured him tied to a chair with balloons.
And he escapes!
Up into the "true" western village.
Its kinda isolated.
Its themed to a ghost town (Get it?). I assume this is the "dead spot" of the park.
About where the magician was, there was a trashcan percussion group.
What's wrong with this picture?
On my way out, Mr. Six and other people were dancing.
Right inside in the park is a Thomas Town. I didn't know the park had one. What does it offer that the other two kid's areas don't?
One last look at the park...
...before I ride the M&Ms tram! Seriously? Anyways, I had a great time at the park. Bizarro was a disappointment, but the park as a whole was very nice. I would've stayed until close, but had a better idea to spend my evening.
