I had this fabulous weather from when I woke up to when I went to bed. After driving three and a half hours to Six Flags New England I got to see a sign that read, "PARK CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER" (Sorry, no picture). Luckily I had another day in the area.
Seriously, this was the parking lot.
Nine cars and some buses.
If you have seen a park's parking lot any emptier, please let me know. Yes, the park was open.
Here's the park map.
Lake Compounce has to have one of the most welcoming entrances I have ever seen.
Taken on my way out, a semi-view of the entrance midway.
I have been looking forward to seeing this sight for a very long time now.
Boulder Dash is my perfect coaster.
A run through the woods, airtime, laterals, speed, not-smooth-but-not-rough, everything about it is perfect.
There are other coasters in the park. Like the 1927 Wildcat. a Very good classic coaster. There were some good pops of airtime and some decent laterals. I would've ridden more, but...
There is this one coaster in the park I seem to like a lot.
Zoomerang, a boomerang.
It was actually very smooth. But it was still a boomerang.
The park's dark ride looked pretty cool. But no time for it.
Because I have to fight through these crowds.
To this coaster (again).
A bad picture of Boulder Dash's station.
Imagine this without the people in the front. That's what the station looked like for almost the whole 3 o'clock hour.
Looking out from the station.
Notice how saturated the track is. It was raining hard and never stopped.
You're hit with bunny hill after bunny hill on the way back.
A better shot of one of the hills.
Downtime is the park's S&S turbo drop. I didn't ride.
Let me explain what you're looking at. This is the chart Boulder Dash's operator used to mark the number of empty seats during the 3 o'clock hour. Each number is a lap around the track. 26 trains went out in this hour. I was on every one of them. But on the fourth one on, notice 23 empty seats. I was alone on the train, in the front seat. For 22 rides. That 18 was when the performers from the park's theater came for a ride. They didn't make me get out of my seat. So 23 rides in the front seat on Boulder Dash without getting out.
On the way out, I think I was the last guest in the park.
But you can see how nice Lake Compounce is.
Looking down the entrance midway.
In case you didn't know. Notice at the bottom,"Kennywood Entertainment". Lake Compounce is owned by Kennywood (now Parques Reunidos).
I'm actually more worried about Lake Compounce than Kennywood with them. Hopefully Parques Reunidos takes a hands-off approach to owning the park.
I was the last car in the parking lot. The white van is security waiting for me to leave.
Thank You Lake Compounce for being open and giving me one of the best two hours of my life. Now I just need to figure out an excuse to come back to Connecticut.
