Shrine near Chuo Station, Yokosuka
Chuo Station Plaza. Getting ready to start parade
Mikoshi, Portable Shrine, will be carried by everybody in this group at some point tonight.
Tanaka san had told the Master to please let me carry the shrine. All the sudden, they grabbed me and I was up in front!
I must have just started because I can tell I'm smiling. Two blocks later, I wasn't smiling...
The lights shorted out so unfortunately, you can't see how pretty is is lit up
I still have a lump on my shoulder and a bruise. The entire time it was super painful!
It did cure my hangover though...(Nice photo Matt!!!!)
Only two blocks later...(guy behind me ain't smiling anymore is he?!?!)
Turning a corner, (look at the look on my face!) I'm in so much pain right now and I feel like i'm going to collapse!)
Thanks Matt!!!!!
At certain businesses, the entire crew would turn the Mikoshi toward the business and lift it up and shout something. They did this several times per block...
This girl couldn't stop staring at us, (maybe because of my clothing,) so Matt snapped her photo. Then she smiled:)
After the Mikoshi, Tanaka put my yukata on
Yup, in the middle of the restaurant...it's her 'hood and her sister owns the place. Who can stop her?
Those are “uchiwa,” or hand-held fans....
Tanaka san made this purse out of vintage kimono fabric. She helped me get the yukata made. The obi is from a lady sitting behind Matt, she's a friend of the family.
This is the lantern outside of our favorite bar/yakitori shop.
We went for food and stumbled upon them again. I thought they were finished but they were just taking a break
