Food Lifeline Event for Foster Week of Service
On January 21, 2011, 13 volunteers from the the Foster School of Business participated in a donation repackaging event at Food Lifeline in Shoreline, Washington.
Participants from Beta Alpha Psi and other business majors toured the Shoreline warehouse and learned how Food Lifeline stores, repackages, and distributes donated food to hundreds of food banks in the region. They then received a training on the standards of donations that can be redistributed and started working. In three hours of volunteering, students repackaged 4,400 pounds of food, beverages, and essential items to be distributed to those in need in the Puget Sound region. This volume of repackaged groceries will provide approximately 3,385 meals!
