A Set - A travel

"Set" refers here is a Dasarah set. People from various near by villages throng into Kulasai to celebrate Dasarah Festival. They usually form a small group and each group is called "Set". Each set consists of their own priests, make up artists, Karagam dancers(Dancers who perform folk dance while carrying a ritual pot over their head), etc. On 10th day of the festival, these sets will start their journey from their village. While coming, they stop in spotted places and perform various dances. Finally they will reach Kulasai and will continue their performances till the next day morning. Myself and Vinod decided to go along with a set and cover all the events. Unfortunately, we missed the native Karagam folk dance, which was humiliated in the name of Cine actresses dance. So, we came back after shooting for few hours. Few of the shots are here. *The first picture and the last two images are not from the same Set. But, since it was apt for this set, I included them too.

Life in a river bank

All these shots were shot @ Thamirabharani river, Thirunelveli. I was inside the river when shooting these. I just wanted to show how the life would be in a river bank, when we look from the water. :-)

Chozha Architecture

Here are three temples, which showcase the power of Chozha architecture. Tanjore(Big temple, built by Raja Raja Chozhan, 10th Century), Gangai konda chozha puram(same as big temple, built by his son Rajendra Chozhan, 11th Century), Dharasuram(built by his son Raja Raja Chozhan, 12th Century). Among these, Tanjore temple surpasses all, by its marvellous architecure and its photographic beauty. Wherever you fix the camera, you will surely end up with a nice shot. Gangai konda chozha puram is famous for its big idol, dharasuram for its beautiful creation in small sculptures all over the temple.

IS Aishwarya & Melappedu Computer Centre Visit

Aishwarya is doing B.Com and we got a request from one of her well wishers. After analysing, we, Indiasudar, decided to help her for her education. Melappedu Computer Centre is one of the computer centres of Indiasudar. At present, there are only 2 computers. We need extra 2 computers.

Dindigul Malaikkottai

This is one of a fort, which is not fully damaged yet. But, I dont think, the govt is maintaining it with utmost care. Anyway, not bad. Very beautiful photographic site, compared to Trichy fort.

Kaaraikkudi is very famous for its architecure & food. The two palaces here are famous ones owned by Rajas(Kings). "Kandukondaen Kandukondaen"movie was shot in the first palace.

Vaalpaarai

After visiting Topslip, we went to Vaalpaarai. Scenic beauty. Not yet occupied by tourists. :-) While going there dont miss "High Forest". The place is really a heaven. But, u have to drive & walk in a tough path, (say road). Other than this, if possible & if u know some officials in Forest dept, get the permission to visit Grass Hills. They said(Ya.. We didnt get the permission,) u cant see such a place anywhere in the world.

Topslip

Topslip is a forest area, situated near Coimbatore. Such a wonderful place for Wildlife photography. A pleasant weather will welcome u. But, before going, you have to book the rooms or magazine(see foto) in advance. At night, u can see animals on the lawn & be ready for the trekking in the early morning itself. "Baby" is a guide who was accompanying us. Nice person, having good knowledge abt wild animals & forest.
