Urban Prep Signing Day 2010
Taking a cue from the sports world, the seniors participated in a “Signing Day” luncheon hosted by Harry Caray’s Restaurant. Each student stood to publicly announce the college or university he has chosen to attend, commit to that school by signing the Urban Prep 100% to College Board and the Credimus Book, and receive a baseball cap from the school he will attend in the fall.
As part of the event, Grant DePorter, president and managing partner at Harry Caray’s Restaurant Group, and Chris Zorich, former Chicago Bears player, provided remarks. In addition, Ernest Sawyer, President of the Midwesterners, presented a check in the amount of $10,000 toward Urban Prep’s 100 Percent to College Fund, the second such donation the organization has made to Urban Prep.
Nike also make a surprise announcement to the seniors at the event, presenting a custom Urban Prep Nike sneaker that each student will receive upon graduation
