Indigenous People
A celebration of the traditional indigenous human experience. I have chosen many of Edward S. Curtis images for their innate beauty. Besides some of my own images, the photos shared here either belong to the public domain, is shared under Creative Commons or similar, or have an expired copyright. My deep feeling is that so many of the indigenous groups have been extremely marginalized, victims of genocides and brutally mistreated, all in the name of ignorance, financial progress and greed, everywhere from the indigenous populations of the Andaman Islands, to the Sami of the Northern hemisphere, to the Mapuche of Chile and Argentina, just to mention some examples. There are also good news, of reclaimed land and rights. Please see www.survival-international.org I hope that we will reach a maturity where all living beings on this beautiful Earth are treated as equally dear and valuable to us all.
