The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) sponsored a Fisheries Business Network symposium in Monterey CA. in September 2008.
As a Sea Urchin fisherman and V.P.of the Commercial Fishermen of Santa Barbara Inc.I am interested in the economic viability and enhancing profitability of fisheries affected by the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA). There are concerns that the Marine Life Management act (MLMA) is lacking linkage and continuity to the MLMA. This could be disasterous to fisheries if the congestion effect externality is not dealt with comprehensively within the aforementioned state laws.
Michael DeLapa and his staff are to be commended for doing a fine job in bringing it all together.
