Injured Indian Pitta, Secunderabad
This injured Indian Pitta had been found by a family in their garden at Railway Colony, Tarnaka, Secunderabad a few days earlier. It seemed to have hurt its leg in a fall or maybe due to a predator's attack. They had taken it to a vet and got it treated for its injuries - the bandage is visible. Besides water, they had been trying to feed it with various things - berries, milk, etc - but apparently it was not eating anything. The day I went there, I found an earthworm nearby which I offered to the Pitta, and he ate it quite readily. Seeing this, the family members procured some worms from an aquarium shop which they tried feeding to the Pitta. They reported that he seemed to be getting better - more active - but a few days later, unfortunately, the Pitta died.
