My first attempt at Strawbale Gardening. Here I have Pattypan Squash, Zuccinni an Yellow Squash
Here I have asparagus Mary Washingtons, I have never seen it grow this far south with any success. My thinking was to raise the roots up so they could get the chill hours they need to produce well. This was my first year I could harvest an was very pleased with the outcome. Updates to come later.
This was taken not long after I stopped harvesting the asparagus. Here are some more M. Washingtons, Purple Dragon an one I don't know the name of I traded for. To the far right are some of my comfrey that normally wouldn't grow here for me anyways. Jersey Knight (??) Asparagus planted directly in the ground, another attempt . As the season moves along I will update.
More of the same at a different stage. Kentucky Wonder Beans are in the raised bed to the left. Behind them are Jersey Knight Aspargus I wanted to try one more time in the ground.
Another view of my little garden area. In the far back are my garlics an onions. But most everything else is newly planted. Will update later on.
Closer shot of some Mary Washingtons guses with one ready to be picked. But I had stopped at this point so not to stress out the bed. Lots of babies in there that need to be moved.
Here are my fall planted carrots that didn't do so well but I am leaving them in just to see how they do. I mixed in some tomatoes an a few red onions.
I traded for some seeds of Fava Beans, a beautiful plant but I don't look for any beans. I don't think they will have time to make b4 the heat hits us.
