Alexandra Car Move 2006
This Vice-Royal Railway Car was built in Amherst by Rhodes & Curry in 1905 for Governor General Earl Gray and named Alexandra after our Queen of the day. It then became the Government of Canada's official car and used by 4 of our Prime ministers. After several number changes it became part of the Discovery Train. In 1982 it went to the National Museum of Science & Technology in Ottawa and finally returned 1988 to its birthplace The Town of Amherst where it was used as a welcome bureau. The Alexandra was moved to the Train Station Inn in Tatamagouche in 2006 where it has been restored and open to the public. www.trainstation.ca
