1984 Bertone X-1/9 Motor Rebuild
After the brakes seized, the motor got very hot - resulting in white smoke from the tailpipe and mayonaise under the oil cap. I figured it was a blown head gasket. Turns out, the intake and exhaust fastening nuts were only "finger tight." This allowed water to escape into the intake chamber, where it mixed with fuel, creating the white smoke.
Since this car is over 25 years old, and in very good condition (I am the second owner), I decided to drop the motor and go through everything. The photos in this album are a step-by-step journal of my work. I hope others find them to be of value, since there is very little available for these fuel-injected, later model X-1/9 cars.
