A view of the pueblo of Zuheros as we started up the trail.
The castle in Zuheros.
Another view of the castle.
The rock around Lobatejo is mostly limestone, so there were little caves here and there.
Some local wildlife.
Gina, the guide.
A shepherd's home.
Our first view of the peak. We ended up going around to the right and up the slope.
This rather un-spectacular peak is La Tiñosa, the highest in Córdoba province. It´s still less than 5,000 feet in altitude.
Approaching the peak, we had a lot of rather rough rocky terrain.
Trails? We don't need no stinkin' trails!
And we finally made it to the peak.
Gina made it to the peak as well.
View from the peak. The mountains in the distance are the Sierra Nevada, separating the province of Córdoba from the province of Granada.
View from the peak.
Lunch at the peak.
Starting back down.
This tree is a quejigo, in the same family as the oak.
For a brief moment, even the ruteros were lost. Finally, we found the gate which allowed us to get past the fence.
You can see the lines of rock which were the fences of some local farmer, dating back who knows how long.
The ruins of the farmer's house.
Gina leads the way through the nasty, slippery mud.
Approaching Zuheros from a different direction.
These whitewashed pueblos in the hills are beautiful. I thought this looked like one of the Beléns we´ve been seeing around town.
