Lights along Ronda de los Tejares, just up the street from our piso.
Down a side street.
The Corte Inglés gets in on the action. Listen to the beautiful Christmas music: "Spend your money here....all your money....we have just what you need...."
The big central display along Gran Capitán.
A display showing two of the three Wise Men (los Reyes Magos)...the third one is on the other side. According to Spanish tradition, it´s the Reyes Magos who bring presents, not that Santa Claus guy. And they bring them on January 5, rather than December 25.
But with some people, Papá Noel is gaining popularity. He brings the presents on La Noche Buena (December 24). As any Spaniard will indignantly tell you, this is NOT Santa Claus!
More Christmas lights.
The lights at Plaza Tendillas. There´s a rather grim statue of a mounted soldier (el Gran Capitán), but at this time of year he´s hidden by the Christmas lights. Note all the people out and about, babies in strollers....this is after 10:00 at night. Normal for Plaza Tendillas at any time of year!
