Here we are with Amy and the Grandkids.
Brianna and I did some Word Search puzzles, and played squares, and tic-tac-toe. Belle stayed on my lap to avoid Klondike, our granddog. It takes Belle a while to warm up to new dogs, especially large ones.
How do you entertain three kids when it's still too nippy to play outside? YouTube! We watched videos for hours.
Yep, even Belle was watching videos. We were looking at dog videos. (-:
See why Belle was intimidated? Klondike is slightly larger than her.
Here I am teaching the kids how to build a campfire.
Joey loved all the little logs that were standing around.
This method of "chopping" kindling is FAR better than an ax.
We had to make sure we had plenty of wood for later.
Such a happy helper.
Mission accomplished! It's much easier to prep the fire while it is still daylight.
Shortly after we lit the fire, it was a raging inferno as planned.
Amy looks all mottled due to the waves of heat rising off of the fire.
Did you see Gaige's stick in the previous image? You can see Brianna holding one here. These are the sticks they used to play in the fire. Their Mom wasn't too thrilled about that. But I told her that was the whole point of us finding just the right sticks earlier.
Even Joey has a stick here, which Hubby had to help him find, because I completely forgot he would want a stick, too.
YUM. Marshmallows! A tad messy for a 2.5 year old.
Pop knew Meg was cleaning Joey's hand. In fact, he asked her to. What he didn't know, was that Belle was helping clean off Joey's face.
Brianna looks unhappy here for a reason. Meg had just stolen one of her marshmallows.
Even at 6, marshmallows can be a bit messy.
After Pop took Joey up to the house, Amy (who was not thrilled about the whole fire stick thing) got to play with Joey's stick.
Sunday morning relaxation time. Joey, for whatever reason, thought Pop should be facing the other way.
And he didn't want to spin Pop back around either.
After breakfast, Amy sent the kids outside to play.
For some reason, Gaige was upset. Some game gone awry I think. But he looked so pathetic.
He caught me taking pictures...
...and decided to ham it up.
Gaige likes making weird faces for me.
He thought I was finished with the pics and went back to playing.
Belle really seemed to enjoy Gaige's company. Maybe she thought he looked sad all alone, too.
Klondike is very photogenic. He's a beautiful dog.
The dirt, rocks and sticks kept the boys pretty busy.
Brianna and Belle got in on the fun, too.
As Amy packed up, Joey pretended he was driving home. It was just about then that we noticed Belle was missing...
We're not sure if Joey invited her into the truck to be his passenger, or if she was just making sure she didn't get left behind.
When we asked him about it, he just laughed. Either way, he liked having a willing passenger.
This is what Klondike looks like in the back of a full-size SUV. He is a big dog.
He's a very good dog.
Gaige had to say goodbye to Belle.
