1923 Ford Cut-down touring pick-up "barn car" refurbish
Found this nifty early 1923 Ford Model T touring car at Chickasha in 2007. It was already a barn car, some owner years ago pulled off the back seat and made a wood bed for a pickup truck. Liked the patina and chose to keep it looking as much as found. Had to find a few parts, rear fenders, hood, proper low radiator shell, and a rear wheel too, but you know....all that was at Chickasha too, so I rounded up the parts and hauled "Nellie" home to FL and began the repairs.
Did the finish on the body by rubbing with 3M scotch brite pads soaked in Liquid Wrench, to remove the rust and lower the high tops of corrosion for a smoother feel. Then wiped with lacquer thinner, and sprayed on a coat of clear enamel rattle can, final wipe with car wax......the original paint is still on the body in places, and the rest of the sheetmetal is "barn rust" look.....
