09India_D_CharDham
The photos here lie on the blue and violet lines in the itinarary map in my album 09India_A_Resum. /// With Himalaya roads affected by landslides, I escaped via Shimla to Chandigarh, situated in the plain, where streets are not prone to landslides. Tourist visit of Paonta Sahib also. // Monsoon seemed to be over. So I went to the mountains again. My first destination was the Valley of Flowers (popular along western tourists) and, before, a village labelled as "Hindu Pilgrim Centre" on my map. Only there I learned that the village belongs to a quartet of pilgrim sites called Char Dham. // I took a bus to the Yamuna river (to a place along the route where I would continue my North-South Himalaya Walk) and walked to the Char Dham sites near the sources of Yamuna and Ganges. // Finally, travelling by bus as far as possible, I went to the fourth Char Dham site and then back to the point where I had interrupted my North-South Walk.
