Step 1 was digging 8 holes 24 inches deep. It was loads of fun!
Still digging the holes...at least the shade is coming around!
Next the posts were set in the holes lined up and the concrete poured. This was the end of Day 1.
Day two we put down some landscape fabric to keep the grass and weeds from coming up. Also we connceted the beams to the posts.
All of the beams connected and ready to cut the top of the posts off.
We assembled the back rim joist with the joist hagers on it and laid out the joists to be connected to the rim joist.
End of Day 2 we had the 3 rim joists screwed in place and leveled all the other joists cut to length.

Well it is getting dark and we still are not done! I did get the deck floor moved to the deck...just need to finish the angles on the front and then screw down the deck boards.
Once this part is completed I need to build one step coming out of the house and then another step into the yard either on the side or the front. I haven't decided yet.
Well there it is in all of its glory!
Too bad my yard got destroyed in the construction process...oh well.

We extended the flower bed on the side of the house all the way around the deck. I think it turned out pretty nice.
